The 2020 Georgia Refine Retreat is for photographers who want more – more than just a camera in hand trying to learn the ropes of the business by trial and error. More than just trying to compete for your local business. More than coloring inside the lines. This retreat is for anyone who wants to be a part of a bigger creative community, to first and foremost connect with other photographers in the industry, and secondly to break out of their ordinary or “go-to” poses. Even the best in the business will tell you to never stop investing in your photography by always learning, always leaning into each other, and always invest in yourself. This is where we come in!
To refine something is
making small improvements
to influence the overall value
from standard to a greater worth.
Take your photography from
middle-of-the-road and learn
how to create fine art,
ultimately bringing value
to your work.

We welcome you to the 2020 Refine Retreat, April 24th-26th. Come stay with us in a beautiful home near the beach on Amelia Island where we will teach you refined posing, lighting techniques, and show you how we edit!
There are so many workshops and learning opportunities out there, it is hard to determine what will be worth your time and what might not be. An amazing location is a fun perk but having the reassurance that your money is well spent is key. And while there are fabulous photographers out there creating beautiful work, applying the workshop to you and your business is our goal. We want to bring your work up a level. We want you to walk away with motivation and valuable information to actually improve your photography.
This is a pretty big deal. Sweet August Studios and CLJ Photography have been working with the magazine for many years. We understand creating work that stands up to the standards of a national magazine. Our amazing Editor-in-Chief, Faythe Hall, will be personally offering a welcome, going through portfolios and offering social media templates for you to make connections in your industry.
Alright, yes. We do have a gorgeous beach location. You won’t be disappointed.
We also have some amazing vendors on board so you’ll walk away with your minds and your hands full!
Our workshop includes your accommodations which means after a long day of working, we can collaborate all you want into the night! We can get to know one another and work with you individually on whatever you have questions about!
We have been working in the industry collectively for over 15 years. We can show you exactly how to improve your posing, what mistakes you’ve been making and how to really push yourself. We will go over lighting no-nos and how to use lighting to your advantage wherever you are! And we will go through an entire maternity and newborn edit, showing you hand editing techniques in case you don’t have all the popular photoshop actions.
This workshop will have an exclusive group that we will keep open for 6 months post workshop. You can continually ask questions, post your successes, post your pricing for review and get tips on marketing your work. Find out how I am booking (A LOT) through instagram and networking. We can go over business theory, IPS questions for anyone interested and anything else you have questions about. We will be an open book for you!
