I get asked a lot how a newborn photo shoot is scheduled. I wanted to give some information regarding our ideal newborn booking process.
First, you can absolutely book your photographer before baby arrives! In fact, it is so much easier for both you and your photographer! Ideally, you should be contacting photographers in your second trimester and discussing your portraits. Depending on the photographer, you may need to schedule a studio visit or chat over the phone regarding portrait details.
As a higher end portrait studio, newborn photography can be an investment and having pricing information early can help you budget and plan for your little one’s first photo shoot.

So if you wait until you come home with baby to schedule our services then you miss out on the opportunity to have those images in your albums and in your home.
Second, you found a photographer you love before your baby arrives but how do you schedule the shoot? Maybe you feel like waiting until your due date is closer or maybe you want to wait until a date is set with your medical professional. Actually, setting the date for your photo shoot is relatively easy!
Most professional newborn photographers understand babies will arrive when babies arrive.
Our studio tentatively sets your due date and schedules 7-10 days after that date.
As you progress in your pregnancy, simply text or email us updates on baby’s arrival.
