What inspires you – Frisco Maternity Photographer – The Babymoon Photographer by CLJ Photography
What inspires you? I often ask this to a client. It brings meaning to the moment and to the portrait. It’s really important to have some inward perspective.
To emphasize the point, I wanted to talk a little bit about what inspires me.
My husband and I take turns and have an evening out with the children individually as often as we can. When taking my daughter once, when she was 8 or so, we decided to “dress up” before we went out (lipstick and all). Over a very “adult” meal of chicken strips, I caught a real glimpse of her mind and character without the noise and static of our hectic lives. I found her conversation skills engaging. We talked about everything eventually landing on her favorite dance moves. We arrived back at home, and in the garage she and I practiced these dance moves. Swinging and twirling through the dust of the garage, I thought to myself, apart from the “parent” part of me that “I really like this kid”.
When I reflect on this I feel a gratefulness that I can’t describe. This little girl will never be prey to any else’s will. For better or worse we have engendered a character of curiosity and ferociousness. I captured as many as 20 photos of her that night, and still look at them. There’s no sense of regret when the moment was captured.
What inspires me, drives me.
Our parents, and more certainly, my grandparents, didn’t have the luxury of fine albums or prints. These quality heirlooms. Even if they could afford a decent camera, the film and printing techniques of our time are so much more archival and permanent. And that’s the real rub, isn’t it? Permanence. These moments can be more than chasing a memory.
It’s how I run my studio. I offer products. Our collections include tangible items. These albums and prints have permanence. I offer permanence. Why? Because of its weight – physically and emotionally. These moments have weight – we are inspired by them and influenced by them. We can pass these moments down. I believe in the power of print and it’s permanence.
I realize, our philosophy on albums and prints, doesn’t mean it’s what everyone desires. It’s ok. Our studio services are not for everyone. It’s for a portion of expecting couples and families who want more out of their photographer. Who are inspired by moments and desire that permanence.
Who want to not only invest in the quality of portrait but also in keeping that portrait for generations. We can help you. We would love to help you!
