I have a newborn story that will brighten your day. All of our focus recently has been on the global events – the pandemic. But there are so many beautiful things that have happened during this time, that ARE happening and will continue to happen.
One such story is about Eugene and Hillary Alston.
Let’s backtrack two years. Hillary was pregnant with their first baby and in her third trimester. She was traveling for work and received devastating news – her husband was in a terrible motorcycle accident. Hillary had no choice but to drive home immediately, overnight, pregnant and racked with worry. Eugene had been rushed to the hospital and was stabilized in the trauma ICU.
Here is Hillary’s blog on the first 24 hours after his accident – https://hillaryalston.wixsite.com/hillaryelaine/post/the-first-24-hours-how-my-husband-survived-a-near-death-experience-pregnant-in-my-third-trimester.
Sometime after his accident, I reached out to Hillary. Something to brighten her day in that terrible time – would she be interested in a maternity photo shoot? I know. It was probably the last thing on her mind at the time. But…then again, something to take her mind off the things that were weighing so heavy.
She came and did the shoot. It was the first normal thing she had done in weeks. It had made her feel happy, for just a minute. A needed respite in such a hard time. See her maternity shoot here – https://www.cljphoto.com/joy-in-period-of-trial-clj-photography/.
First Newborn Story
Jump ahead many weeks – two months Eugene was in the ICU and many of those first days and weeks, near death. But finally, he went home – literally only a week or more before the birth of their son. What a BLESSING!! He was able to be there and witness that miracle, to be there for Hillary during delivery – wow!
He was able to be there for little Ryder’s first photo shoot, here – https://www.cljphoto.com/studio-newborn-baby-clj-photography/.
Second Newborn Story
And now, two years later, one of the happiest endings to this story, they welcomed their second son just in February. I feel so blessed I could capture these moments for them again.
Hard moments will come. Moments that try our souls and make us question the world around us. But without these hard moments, we would never understand the beauty that is life. We wouldn’t understand the love that lies out there for all of us.
This newborn story is quite possibly my favorite story of all my clients ever. It is a reminder that there is joy in trials. Light at the end of every night.
Enjoy.
