Coronavirus and What Matters in these Uncertain Times – Full Disclosure – Dallas Maternity Photographer
I think our current situation has made us all re-evaluate many things – how prepared we are for the future and what’s most important to us.
Before that though, full disclosure…I went to New York…this past week (GASP!). It was right before everything shut down. SO SAD! I was with my daughter and we were exposed to all of the people sounds and lights of the city.
Important things to remember during Coronavirus.
FIRST,
Although COVID-19 represents very little risk to the my direct clientele, I have chosen to self-quarantine, as much as possible, for the next couple weeks. If you are a current client, you may receive emails about changes in how we are handling your photo shoots.
I have no symptoms, but keep in mind, they may not rear their ugly heads for up to 14 days after exposure… meaning, I’m out of commission for another week. Our commercial space is being cleaned before and after every shoot and we are being VERY careful with sessions we are taking in the next couple months.
SECOND,
Please be careful out there, Mommies and Daddies. Check the CDC’s site and don’t be too quick to be swayed by social media alarmism.
Keep in mind how quarantine works – you are taking yourself out of the equation.
Don’t spread the disease even if you don’t have the symptoms. Remember that some of our grandmothers and grandfathers, along with people with compromised immune systems are the most at risk. Even if you aren’t sick you may be a carrier- so just remove yourself from putting others at risk even if you are at low risk!
THIRD,
What matters the most right now – SO VERY IMPORTANT – remember, there is beauty in the world! There are still moments to capture. There is still love. Don’t be a hermit. Strengthen your relationship with your children. Call your families, your friends, and your neighbors. Reach out to those in need and find ways to help your communities. There are people who need to be checked in on. It falls on EVERYONE to take care of each other.
This is the moment to show your strength. Your Motherhood. Your courage and your love.
We asked Ashley her thoughts in these uncertain times:
“We’re all feeling a little anxious and uncertain in these times. Being able to look at these sweet photos, being able to have memories captured in such a beautiful way, is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what matters most. I look at these pictures and see everyone’s joy and smiles and it brings so much peace and happiness – and now I can look back on these moments and be reminded of that every day.”

“I want my boys to know that I love them unconditionally and always will. I want them to know that being a mom of all boys is the most awesome thing I’ve ever done and it’s so much fun – and that I’ve learned so much from them that it has completely shaped who I am. If I could give them some advice it would be two things. One, that they are limitless. I had never understood the true capacity, the true potential for human beings until I had children. They are each brilliant and unique and the world NEEDS their amazing qualities, exactly as they are, and they can make it a better place just by embracing their uniqueness. Second, I would simply tell them that family is everything. The ties that bond us are forever and we will always be there for each other, no matter what.”

Her words hit home with me and I know they’ll do the same for you. Remember what matters most and remember to keep capturing them! Good luck and stay safe!
