Style of Maternity Portraits – Dallas Maternity Photographer – CLJ Photography
One of the main questions I ask every inquiry is “How do you want to be photographed?” This can be a difficult question. “What do you mean – how do I want to be photographed? I don’t know…”
But an important question to think about and, as an artist, a very important in understanding how to create the portrait. Every portrait session has a style and a feeling. It is customized and designed around what you envision. We meet before the shoot once or even twice to discuss your session. We plan. Style and talk about how the images will feel. How they will match your style, your home and aesthetic.
Below, is an outside image. The framing on the portrait tells the viewer that we are witnessing a new mother, we are peeking into a moment of her journey and life. It feels intimate somehow, and special. It is soft and organic. Happy and joyful.
The next image is set in studio. Still, a happy and joyful portrait. It feels very feminine especially with the floral accent. It feels playful and soft. During a maternity portrait session, we will often do in studio and an outside location..
Portrait number three. Another development in how the portrait feels. What descriptive words come to mind? Contemplative? Waiting – happy but a more inner joy. When I look at this image I can see this Mommy anticipating. I see her marvel at her body and the creation of the child. I see a miracle and I see a divine calling of Mother.
Enter Portrait four. Mic DROP!
Confidence.
It is sexy and empowering. It is strength and power.
