We live at an amazing time. There is access to amazing technology and better access to education and learning experiences. More people are learning to be creative and entrepreneurial. Consequently, a large pool of photographers in any given community.
It is important to remember how fragile your baby is.
Newborns, as portrait subjects, are entirely unique. Their bones are fairly soft. At birth there is no muscle control at all and a large, heavy head that must be supported. Their joints are fragile and their unique sleep and feeding schedules must be taken into account. Newborns have important reflexes that need to be watched, such as the rooting reflex and the moro reflex.
Newborns are photographable and should be photographed! What an important moment in your life and the beginning of another!!
This has been just a little reminder. Be careful choosing your photographer. Ask about their experience, their safety precautions, if they are insured. Things like this only protect your little one. Your photographer should be taking precautions to protect your baby as well.
Enjoy this moment. Document it. Celebrate it.
