“Maternity Poses” – Searching for Images that Inspire – Dallas Maternity Photographer – CLJ Photography
Your search for a Pregnancy Photographer probably began with Google or a recommendation from a friend. After that you probably tried to find images you liked or were inspired by. It is what many clients find themselves doing throughout their pregnancy.
I will often find a client sending me their inspiration, I love it! It is very helpful defining a person’s style and vision. I have a Pinterest Board for my inspirational images. If you want to take a look – Inspire | Baby Bump.
I think a lot of clients will find a lot of maternity poses because they want an action plan – they don’t want to feel awkward in front of the camera, they don’t know how to pose and they want the back-up.
But here’s the secret….POSING IS MY JOB! I’ve got you! After your inspirational board is created (if at all) sit back and enjoy your shoot.
I’ve got a LOT of experience in posing pregnant women – nearly 10 years now. But on top of that, I actively mentor with fashion photographers, maternity photographers and portrait photographers from around the world.
I look at everything your body is doing in front of the camera. I watch your arms, chin, bump, butt, hands, hair – EVERYTHING! No double chins, no fat arms, shoulder lines are a must! I want to see the curve of your back and the shape of your belly. I make sure we sculpt your legs, thighs and butt – it is a workout when we are done.
Some poses are more flattering for you. Some angles of your face are better. One of the reasons, I only show 30-35 images in a gallery is because I look for your BEST images, not the ok ones. You won’t see unflattering images from me!
Some photographers will pose you more and others less. The ones that pose you, may give you a lot of direction or vague concepts of what they want. It really depends on what you want from your photographer.
I am highly posed and will give you a lot of direction during your maternity shoot.
I make conscious choices to flatter your body – any body type. My curvy mommas, short, tall, thin, you name it.
